Vitality too strong for OG

Vitality too strong for OG

Vitality gets it done in two straight maps

Vitality faced the new-look and high on confidence OG in the Group B upper bracket quarter-final at the IEM Cologne 2023. OG was coming off the back of two strong wins against Complexity and Apeks and were looking to upset the Major champions. The result though, was as expected as ever.

First up was OG's pick of Mirage with Vitality getting things underway on the CT side. ZywOo started off with a quad in the pistol round and back-to-back triple FAMAS kills from apEX against the co and in the first gun round saw Vitality go 3-0 up. It was a 6-0 lead before OG got their first T round off the back of a B hit thanks to early info play from F1KU along with a triple kill. A regali 1v1 against flameZ saw OG put up their second in round 9 and OG made it two in a row thanks to a regali double opener from A ramp. But three was all OG could manage as Vitality ended the first half with a 12-3 lead.

It was a clean pistol from OG to kick things off in the second half and they made it three-in-a-row before the Major winners got the guns out. Vitality was back on the board once their guns came out and a flameZ triple saw Vitality turn around a 2v3 to put up 14. Vitality picked up the map at 16-6 as they barely broke a sweat.

High impact from the Frenchman on Mirage

Vitality's pick of Anubis was the second map with the Major winners starting on the CT side. A Magisk and flameZ double each saw Vitality take the opening pistol on Anubis and a ZywOo double opener against the force buy saw Vitality build a 3-0 lead before OG got their first round thanks to a FASHR double opener at Connector. Another FASHR double opener made it 2-3 and OG tied up quick at 3-3. A back and forth half saw Vitality leave the opening half with a 8-7 lead.

A k1to double opener saw OG pick up the second pistol on Anubis but Vitality responded with a force buy thanks to a flameZ double opener on the A site. Like the first half, the teams kept trading rounds but it was a Magisk 1v2 on the A site that put Vitality on 13 and they built on that to pick up the map at 16-13. It was OG's old boy himself flameZ topping the charts with 27 kills and an ADR of 100.3 on Anubis.

No love for his old team as flameZ stood out on Anubis

Vitality will now take on MOUZ next while OG goes up against NAVI.
