Looking for Org edge out Rooster
With their IEM Sydney 2023 dreams and hopes on the line, Looking For Org took on Rooster in the IEM Sydney 2023 Oceania Closed Qualifier Consolidation Final.
Starting off on the T-side of Mirage, Rooster flew off to a strong 5-0 start. Looking for Org (LFO) retook the site to win their first round in a post plant scenario and a couple of rounds later, broke Rooster's economy at 4-7, looking good to make the half competitive. At 5-7, LFO overplayed their hand, displaying over aggression on mid off the back of which Rooster stole the round and even went on to run away with a 10-5 half in their favour.
LFO ran down the clock in a post plant, starting the second half with a pistol round win. Straight out of the gate, LFO closed the gap and stole the lead at 11-10, exploiting every single weakness in Rooster's defence. Both teams went neck to neck for the rest of the match, trading rounds back and forth but LFO edged out Rooster 16-14, closing out Mirage and going 1-0 up in the series.
After starting off on the T-side of Inferno with a pistol round win, LFO conceded the anti-eco, off the back of which Rooster built themselves a 5-1 lead but LFO bounced back to level the score at 5-5. From here on, Rooster dropped just a single round, to close out the half 9-6, in their favour.
LFO won the pistol and converted the anti-eco to start off the second half, looking good to close the gap but once the gun rounds began, Rooster's T-side took shape, as they ran away with a quick 14-8 lead. LFO clawed back a couple of rounds but Rooster exploited LFO's weak B-defence, to close out Inferno 10-16 and level the series at 1-1, forcing it into the decider, Overpass.
LFO started Overpass with a pistol and anti-eco win on their T-side but Rooster answered right back with 2 of their own once their economy stabilized. Rooster got themselves a 7-3 lead with good reads on LFO but LFO bounce back towards the end off the half, ending it with a respectable 6-9 score line.
LFO won the second half's pistol round but Rooster converted the anti-eco and won a follow-up round to go 8-13, putting LFO at a big disadvantage. LFO showed great resilience, mounting a comeback and closing the gap at 14-13 with Rooster still ahead but by only a very shallow margin. Rooster stumbled at the very last step, as LFO strung up 4 in a row to finish Overpass 16-14 and the series 2-1.
LFO will now take on VERTEX for a spot in the IEM Sydney 2023 main event.
