Over 1.3 million players rush to check out CS2

A tweet from Counter-Strike 2's X account over a week ago saying "What are you doing next Wednesday?" kept the community awake all over the world on 28th September 2023 and upon launch, Counter-Strike 2's concurrent players doubled in numbers going from a little over 500,000 concurrent players to over 1 million concurrent players.

The concurrent players count has consistently been over 1 million, peaking at 1,394,301 concurrent players. The influx of players saw Valve's servers overload and as a result, CSTV and demo recording have been temporarily disabled to increase server availability so more people can play.
