Grayhounds lock in EPL Season 19 Slot
Grayhound Gaming secure their place in 2024's ESL Pro League Season 19 after taking down VERTEX in a 2-0 sweep in the ESL Australia & NZ Championship Season 17. The teams battled on Anubis and Nuke with Grayhounds taking the former 13-9 and the latter 13-6.
The INS led squad has long held the throne of Australia, previously playing under the Renegades banner. They currently sit 30 places above Rooster in the HLTV World Ranking. The season of ESL Australia & NZ was a cake walk for the champions as they took down DXA in the opener before defeating VERTEX to make it to the playoffs. That was followed with rematch win over DXA, a victory over Rooster and a final match against VERTEX.
The newly appointed coach, erkaSt has been a welcome change to the team that lacked a coach following the departure of Kingfisher from the team. The team started off the match on Anubis with a 9-3 lead in the first half. The second half started off closer with VERTEX pulling to within 2 rounds of Grayhound, but GH got the match in control and closed out with a 13-9 win.
Nuke was a more dominant map for them as after a brief scuffle for the post-pistol control, Grayhound ran away with a victory.
ESL Pro League Season 19 will take place in Malta from April 23-May 12, with 32 teams set to fight for the lion's share of the $750,000 prize pool. A plethora of spots remain up for grabs, as teams from all regions still have the chance to book their places in ESL's flagship league across the coming months.
