FaZe reaches 8th final in 8 CS2 events
The second semi-final of IEM Chengdu 2024 kicked off between FaZe and Astralis on Nuke. Starting on the T-side of their own map pick, FaZe recovered from an early 1-3 deficit to post 7 rounds on their T-side. While Astralis tied the scores at 9-9 after successful bomb plants on their T-side buy rounds, FaZe put a stop to their antics by stringing together 3 of their own to seal the map with a 13-10 win.
The game continued on Ancient, which kicked off with an early 4-0 lead for FaZe on their CT side. However, Astralis bounced back, and on the back of a highlight real 4k from br0, held onto the momentum to secure a 7-5 lead. As the sides switched, FaZe fell flat on their T-side, as Astralis secured a flawless CT side to win their map pick with a 13-5 win.
The decider took us to Inferno, where FaZe secured an initial 2-0 lead. Astralis kicked back in the buy rounds, closing back the gap to 3-4. The stars stepped up for FaZe, converting into a hard-fought 7-5 lead. Unlike Ancient, FaZe arrived in full force on the T-side of Inferno, securing a 13-7 win.
This marks FaZe's 8th appearance in a Grand Final, showing their consistent performance in prior tournaments. Previous instances of this achievement include:
