The MongolZ battling for survival on Day 2 of IEM Cologne 2024
It the second day at IEM Colgone 2024 and unfortunately for the Asian and Oceania scene, we have the two lone representatives from the region already battling for survival.
The MongolZ, who are one of the favourites to make it to the Group Stages from the Play-Ins, suffered a shock defeat to Portuguese team SAW as they were comprehensively outplayed on Anubis and Dust2. bLitz and co. never really looked comfortable in the series and was far from the usual selves in the opening Upper Bracket round of 16 game.
FlyQuest on the other looked much more comfortable and started off against BIG by turning around a 3-9 deficit to steal Ancient in overtime. rigoN pulled BIG across on Inferno and the Aussies almost pulled off yet another incredible comeback on Vertigo after being 2-10 down at the half to lose in the final round of regulation. INS had a strong series against BIG and dexter also was impactful. dexter will hope that their AWP of aliStair gets going against The MongolZ as does Liazz, who had an off day against BIG. The Australians started slow on the opening but will look to avoid that against The MongolZ who will definitely punish them if there is any room for error.
While after the opening day's performances, it looks like FlyQuest are the likely ones to stay alive, The MongolZ are known to turn up when needed the most and have loads of talent at their disposal to make it to the main event.
The action kicks off at 17:00 IST today with the winner moving to the Lower Bracket Round 2 game while the loser heads home.
