Gods Reign to play Asia RMR Closed Qualifier with a substitute
In a big development, Dust2 India has confirmed with the Gods Reign team that the Indian team will not have their main roster for the upcoming Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR Closed Qualifier as R2B2 will be replaced by former True Rippers player, Mcg!LLzZz.
The reason for R2B2 not being apart of the team for the RMR Closed Qualifier is due to him owning a VAC banned account, which results in him not being able to take part in Valve event.
R2B2 had purchased a steam account from Amazon in 2015, which received a VAC ban due to phishing on an unauthorised skin website. Consequently, owning a VAC banned account (June 2020) caused R2B2 to sit out ESL events for 2 years, as he turned to VALORANT..
After a thorough investigation, including assistance from SoStronk's Overwatch team, ESL admins cleared R2B2 of any cheating suspicion. They found no evidence of cheating, confirming that the accusations against him were false.
After serving the 2 year ban period and carefully adhering to all guidelines, R2B2 made his return to Counter-Strike, and has been participating in various tournaments including ESL Challenger League Asia, with a non-banned account.
Gods Reign states that they had reached out to Valve to sort out the matter and get clarity on whether R2B2 could be allowed for the RMR Closed Qualifier but the Indian team did not receive any reply from Valve on the matter. On reaching out to Perfect World, the organisers stated that since its a Valve ban, they couldn't allow R2B2 to take part.
Mcg!LLzZz was recently removed from the True Rippers lineup and with the veteran Indian player being without a team, Gods Reign have picked him up for the upcoming Asia RMR Closed Qualifier. It is learnt that Gods Reign also reached out to a couple of foreign players but none of those discussions came to a positive solution.
Gods Reign is one of the two invited Indian teams to the Asia RMR Closed Qualifier, along with True Rippers. The Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Rest of Asia RMR Closed Qualifier takes place between August 28, 2024 - August 30, 2024.
With R2B2 not playing the RMR Closed Qualifier, the Gods Reign lineup for the event will be as follows:
