Niory Esports, Victores Sumus survive opening day of Asia RMR Open Qualifier
With the opening day's action coming to an end at the Asia RMR Open Qualifier, we had a total of five Indian teams taking part and looking to make it to the RMR Closed Qualifier.
At the end of the day, two remained from the five, with one of the favourites to go through, Carnival Gaming, going down in the Round of 16 stage.
Niory Esports started with a big 13-3 win against DOMINATUS, before running through Carnival Gaming in the Round of 16 game to book themselves a place in the quarter-finals. For SpawN and co., who had started with a 13-1 win in the opening round, the disappointing loss in RO16 to their compatriots, ended their Closed Qualifier dreams.
Victores Sumus is the other Indian team who is still alive in the Open Qualifier and after getting past compatriots Dr. DOOM's Armey in their opening round game, they faced Bangladesh's Red ViperZ in the Round of 16 match. With arakyN leading from the front with support from BENZENE and ChAmPcs, Victores Sumus picked up a convincing 13-6 win to put themselves in the quarter-finals.
Project Lethals was the other Indian team in the Open Qualifier, who started with a stunning 13-10 win over Dreamscape but fell to Oni CLAN, suffering a massive 0-13 loss which ended their campaign in the Round of 16.
Quarter-Finals
Niory Esports and Victores Sumus are the only two remaining Indian teams/with Indian players and their quarter-final games are scheduled for August 26, 2024 12:30 IST. Niory Esports will face Forward Gamingg while Victores Sumus will go up against Revenge. Other games in the quarter-finals will see BnTeT's ALTER EGO face Oni CLAN, while NKT Esports will take on DEWA United.
The games from the quarter-final matches onwards will be BO3 matches with the top six teams out of the eight team making it to the Closed Qualifier. Indian teams Gods Reign and True Rippers have already secure direct invites to the Asia RMR Closed Qualifier.
