3DMAX pip Falcons; spoil s1mple's return
Among other things, Thunderpick World Championship 2024 was one of the most anticipated events due to s1mple's return to the competitive Counter-Strike scene. Saudi based organization, Falcons have s1mple on loan for a couple of months from now.
Falcons took on 3DMAX in a bo3 where the first map took us to Anubis. 3DMAX started with a 5-0 streak on the CT-side and the legendary AWP had a rough start with his first kill coming six rounds into the game. Falcons recovered towards the end, to salvage 5-7 half.
Falcons stole the anti-eco after conceding the pistol round in the second half, quickly building their economy to get an AWP in s1mple's hands. The legendary AWP however looked rusty, letting 3DMAX cross crucial areas with little to no contention. Lucky's 1.48 rating performance made the difference, closing out Anubis 13-10.
Going into Nuke, Falcons once again could not get much going early on but a silver lining saw s1mple slowly finding his footing. Falcons managed to fetch just three rounds in the first half, one of which came from a massive 1v3 ace clutch from s1mple. A double-headshot sequence from s1mple got Falcons the pistol round and went to convert subsequent rounds.
Once s1mple got his hands on the AWP, he started racking up frags and nearly took the map away from 3DMAX. s1mple ended the map with 27 frags at an ADR of 125 and a HLTV rating of 1.72 but 3DMAX squeezed through and secured the map 13-9, wrapping the series 2-0.
