TALON on top in the derby from Down Under
The final game of the opening day at the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR was the Australian derby as FlyQuest went up against fellow Oceania team TALON with AZR's boys coming out victorious in a surprise turn of events.
TALON got things going on Inferno with a clean pistol shut-down before FlyQuest answered back with a quick Tec-9 hit down the middle. TALON had no answer to FlyQuest with the guns as Vexity and Liazz's early aggression saw FlyQuest go 5-1 up. nettik's Banana holds finally got TALON going and they went on to tie up the opening half.
A hazr quad-kill helped TALON secure both pistols on Inferno, as they retook the lead of the map. After converting against the eco and force, TALON held a three-round lead before a double dexter opener in the first gun round of the half saw FlyQuest get on the board. FlyQuest were set to tie up the score but TALON hit back with nothing but upgraded pistols which saw them hit double-digits first. TALON didn't waste any time, not giving FlyQuest a comeback route as they closed the match at 13-9 to pick up surprise win.
TALON will face Rare Atom next in the upper bracket semi-final with the winner of that match heading straight to the Shanghai Major 2024 while FlyQuest will fight for survival against GR in the lower bracket.
