Pre-Major VRS released

The MongolZ, Rare Atom receive mid-low seeds

Valve has now released their final regional standings update before the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major and this one in particular is crucial as it determines the seeding and opening round matchups. The seeding process will consider results and performance at the the previous Major.

Not only does the seeding process determine opening matchups, it also determines the eight teams that get to skip the Opening Stage of the Major and start directly in the Elimination Stage. Valve had to step in and cancel the fourth place deciders in the European RMRs due to a miscommunication around the same.

The MongolZ have been placed seventh and Rare Atom have received the fifteenth seed in the Opening Stage, which points at an Asian derby in the first round with The MongolZ taking on Rare Atom. While one could draw a picture of the opening round from the seeding announcement, Perfect World is yet to confirm the opening round's matchups.

The Opening Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major starts this weekend- 30th November 2024 with sixteen teams locking horns in a swiss bracket to determine the eight teams that advance to the Elimination Stage where a similar format determines the playoffs candidates. Representing Asia, The MongolZ and Rare Atom will start in the Opening Stage.
