ACME face semi-final exit at Dubai Police Esports Tournament

R2B2, JaiHind were a part of ACME

The fourth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament concluded yesterday. Initially underway as an online tournament, the playoffs ended up being an offline event in Dubai. Wins against Hafia and Reverse Mouse in the initial phases, ACME booked a semi-final spot where they would face Onyx Ravens.

Gods Reign's R2B2 was playing for ACME in the tournament alongside another Indian player who went by the alias JaiHind. ACME's bo3 against Onyx Ravens in the semi-final got off to a shaky start with ACME going 4-8 down in the first half of Dust2 where they started on the T-side.

ACME put up some contention in the second half on their CT-side but Onyx Ravens' lead was too steep to scale as the latter stuck to the basics and skipped across the line to close out Dust2 13-8, going 1-0 up in the series. The second map took us to Mirage where ACME faced a 2-10 blowout on their T-side in the first half and ended up conceding the map 13-5 and the series 0-2, crashing out of the tournament in the semi-final.

On the other side of the bracket, XO Esports were coming in hot, without conceding a single map throughout the event. XO Esports also had Indian representation in the form of havoK, who has put up impressive showings against international rosters in the past.

XO Esports made it to the grand-final after taking down Ascend Esports 2-0. After a narrow 13-11 win in the opening map of the grand-final against Onyx Ravens, XO Esports fought tooth and nail on Nuke, taking the game into overtime and closing it out 16-12, winning out the Dubai Police Esports Tournament without dropping a single map in the process.

The third place decider game saw ACME take on Ascend Esports. ACME's struggles on Dust2 continued as they ended up with a 3-9 disadvantage on their CT-side and then couldn't secure a single round on the T-side as Ascend Esports took Dust2 13-3. ACME nearly flipped the narrative on Ancient mounting a valiant comeback from 3-9 but fell at the last step, conceding the map 11-13 and the series 0-2 as Ascend Esports secured a third place finish at the fourth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament.
