CS2 was the 3rd most watched esport in 2024

Over 700 CS2 tournaments were hosted in 2024

Counter-Strike 2 had an eventful 2024 with two thrilling Majors and several other tier 1 tournaments that saw new talent rise up and surprise the world. The donk storyline has become a talking point ever since Spirit took home their first Major trophy at the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major.

Teams like The MongolZ shocked the Counter-Strike world, taking down teams that regularly play tier 1 Counter-Strike and added many to their fanbase. All these stories have also reflected in viewership numbers as Counter-Strike 2 ends 2024 as the third most watched esport overall and the second most watched esport on PC only behind League of Legends.

Similar to the last couple of years, Counter-Strike 2 has drawn in better viewership compared to Dota2. Dota2 had just a single tournament that surpassed 1 million peak viewers whereas three off Counter-Strike 2's events put up well over a million peak viewers with the PGL Copenhagen 2024 Major topping the charts at 1,853,954 peak viewers.

Counter-Strike 2 also handed out the second highest amount of prize money from tournament only behind it's fellow Valve title, Dota2. With over 700 Counter-Strike 2 tournaments conducted in 2024 a total of $22.67 million was handed out in prize money.
