CS2 records 2nd highest esports prize pool in 2024
Showcasing an astonishing 6-8% growth in 2024, the Esports industry has had a great year. As we head into 2025, Esports Charts has published the list of the top 10 esports titles with the highest prize pools in 2024. Coming as no surprise, Counter-Strike holds the #2 spot with $22.67 million handed out in prize money and yet another Valve title- Dota 2 takes top spot with a combined prize pool of $22.68 million, just a $10,000 USD difference.
With over 700 tournaments held in 2024, the most hosted for any esports title in the year, Counter-Strike 2 has had six tournaments with a over a million dollars in prize money. The game saw a 10.5% increase in it's prize pools as per Esports Charts.
11 More tournaments have been announced for 2025 with Esports giants like PGL returning to the scene in a much more active capacity. Counter-Strike has also had some of the best storylines in 2024, with donk breaking into the scene with a stellar performance at Katowice to kick things off and then end the year with a masterclass showing at the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major to net Spirit their first Major.
