Rossi, Bhavi leads Gods Reign's comeback against UR
The Group C upper bracket final at the BLAST Rising Asia Spring 2025 Closed Qualifier saw the sole Indian team Gods Reign take down Chinese squad UR, reverse sweeping the latter after suffering a big defeat in the opening map of the series, to pick up a crucial win.
UR's pick of Mirage was a no-show from Gods Reign as the Indian team were shut down with a near-flawless CT half from the Chinese team as UR picked up a dominating 13-2 win with rage and Miami topping the scoreboards with 21 and 20 kills respectively. UR fought back late on Inferno to make sure Gods Reign didn't run away after a 4-1 start on their T side. It was Bhavi, who made sure Gods Reign stayed in the game as multi-opener rounds from the Indian team's captain saw Gods Reign tie up the half at 6-6.
Ph1NNN finally got going early on in the second half, which saw Gods Reign take the lead. Gods Reign went on to take a three-round lead before UR hit back with the guns in their hands. Gods Reign had a chance to steal a low buy round before a messy team kill let UR off the hook to tie up the score at 9-9. Gods Reign though, hung on with a Rossi and f1redup full house putting the Indian team on map point before they closed it at 13-9.
Gods Reign started the series decider on Ancient with a crucial pistol win on their CT half and it was the Rossi show which saw Gods Reign run away to a 9-3 lead. Rossi and R2B2 helped Gods Reign turn around a 3v5 to pick up both pistols on Ancient and the Indian team eased their way to a comfortable 13-4 win to reverse sweep the series 2-1.
The win puts Gods Reign into the Group final where they will await the winner of the Consolidation final game between UR and Shika. Should Gods Reign win their group final, they will move into the BLAST Rising Asia Spring 2025 main event.
