BLAST breaks down Asian MRQs for Austin Major
In the wake of a lot of doubts regarding the concept of MRQ debuting at Austin Major and a totally revamped qualification structure for teams participating in the Major, BLAST has stepped forward with a break-down for the Asian teams. With a total of four Asian teams vying for a Stage one slot, here is how the process will unfold.
One Asian team ranked at the top of the Asian Regional rankings will be directly invited to stage 3. Currently, The MongolZ are ranked #1 with a total of 1827 points, far ahead any other team in the regional standings.
Apart from this, four other Asian teams will head to stage 1 qualifying through the Major Regional Qualifiers. The MRQs in the Asian region can be broken down into three separate qualifiers:
1. Mongolian and Western Asia Qualifier
2. Chinese Qualifier
3. Oceania and SEA Qualifier
A total of four teams will participate in each of the above mentioned Qualifiers following a double elimination format featuring only Bo3s. The highest ranked team playing the MRQ will earn two slots for the Major, while the other two qualifiers will get one slot each.
MRQ will again invite teams contingent on their regional standings. For Chinese Qualifier, the top 4 China teams will be invited. Similarly, top 4 Oceania teams will head to Oceania Qualifier while the top 4 Rest of Asia teams will play in the Mongolian and Western Asia Qualifier.
