Valve to reportedly introduce Trade Protection against scams

Valve might be close to putting up an additional security layer as a preventive measure against scamming, as hinted by Gabe Follower on twitter.

This new layer, called 'Trade Protection', will allow the users to put a lock on items and prevent them from getting sold or traded. This will probably work on top of the regular 7-day trade hold on items after they are traded or bought.

The item will be restricted from getting 'consumed, transferred, or modified', once the Trade Protection has been turned on. Users will be able to put this on high-value items, which they would not like to accidentally lose to API scams.
