G2 trounce Rare Atom
After a convincing 2-0 win against Virtus.pro in their opening game of PGL Bucharest 2025, Rare Atom were up against G2 in the 1-0 pool. The first map of the series took us to Dust2, which turned out to be a pretty one sided affair.
Starting on the T-side of Dust2, m0NESY, one of G2's most consistent performers showed his class once again, putting up a colossal 2.25 rating T-side performance. With 15 frags at 120 ADR, m0NESY's performance fetched G2 a solid 10-2 first half.
After conceding the pistol round, Rare Atom stole the anti-eco in the second half, stringing up a couple of rounds before G2's economy could recover. However, once the gun rounds began, G2 locked Rare Atom out of Dust2 and comfortably closed out the map 13-5, taking a 1-0 lead in the series. Rare Atom lacked in terms of individual performances with not a single player crossing the 0.90 mark in the ratings category.
On Rare Atom's pick of Ancient, they started on the T-side with a strong 3-1 lead but the Chinese could not extend it further, fumbling a solid start. The malbsMd-HeavyGod duo were at the forefront of G2's defense, stopping Rare Atom in their tracks. G2 turned the tables to slide an 8-4 half in their favor. Rare Atom got off to good start on the CT-side winning the pistol and anti-eco to close the gap at 9-7 but G2 recovered and closed out Ancient 13-7, wrapping the series 2-0.
With this win G2 move to the top of the board, just a single win away from clearing the stage in the 2-0 pool. With a win and loss to start their campaign, Rare Atom await their next game in the 1-1 pool.
