The MongolZ stunned by Apogee
The MongolZ's PGL Bucharest 2025 run got from bad to worse as bLitz and co. suffered a shock defeat to Apogee in their 0-1 bracket game, going down in straight maps, leaving them on the brink of elimination.
The Polish squad started The MongolZ's pick of Ancient with the CT pistol and conversions which helped them go 5-0 up before an A hit courtesy of a mzinho triple helped The MongolZ put up their first T round. The MongolZ picked up a couple of low buy rounds but it was the jcobbb show on Ancient as Apogee ran away to a 13-8 win, with jcobbb finishing with 24 kills and an ADR of 117.8.
The Polish team's pick of Nuke started in similar fashion as jcobbb and hypex powered Apogee to a lead on their T side with 910's AWP finding late impact to keep the deficit at two. Dropping the second half pistol on Nuke meant, The MongolZ were unable to lock in any pistol rounds in the game and while a couple of scrappy, man-disadvantage rounds were pulled across by The MongolZ, Apogee denied the Mongolians a chance to pull it overtime, closing things out at 13-11.
The MongolZ, who came into Bucharest as one of the favourites, now drop to the 0-2 bracket and are facing elimination and will have to win every single game hereon forward if they want to keep themselves alive in the $1,250,000 tournament.
