ENCE fall to SAW in Brazy Party 2023

Marco "Snappi" Pfeiffer's squad will look to bounce back against GamerLegion while SAW now moves on to face Astralis.

Another upset has been locked in at the Brazy Party as ENCE falls to the SAW in the Group C Opener. The game went the distance across 3 maps, eventually breaking the way of SAW in Overtime.

The game kicked off on SAW’s pick of Vertigo. With both teams enjoying the map and boasting high win rates in the last 3 months, the map was an even playground, with ENCE being favoured due to their higher level of usual competition. The international squad picked up the pistol round and converted it into a quick 3-0 lead before SAW could open their account. The team stayed neck and neck throughout the half, with the Portuguese squad barely edging out a lead at 8-7.

Another pistol round win from ENCE, but this time the two teams traded forebuy rounds, but from there, the international squad took over. Leading from the front was the 32-year-old IGL Snappi, but the entire ENCE squad performed admirably to secure the first map.

ENCE again picked up a pistol round conversion as they moved to Snappi’s signature map pick of Nuke. SAW, however, had other plans as they quickly mounted a solid defence to win the half 9-6. They then went on a flawless attack run, picking up the 7 rounds they needed to close the game out at a dominant 16-6, with Ricardo 'roman' Oliveira and João "story" Vieira putting up huge numbers.

The final frontier, Anubis, was finally a dominant start for ENCE. The team pulled together a great defence, picking up 11 rounds on their CT side. Snappi was once again taking charge, posting 19 kills in the game. A pistol round win gave SAW a glimmer of hope, and they built on it, taking the score to a 13-9 as this time we saw story combining with Michel 'ewjerkz' Pinto to put up a big frag total. The latter’s heroic 1v2 on the A site finally pushed SAW into double digits.

A few crucial wins for ENCE’s attack broke SAW’s economy as ENCE secured a match point. With a Deagle in his hand, MUTiRiS aced to deny ENCE the 16th round and gave SAW a fighting chance. And the Portugese squad took it and ran all the way to overtime. SAW’s excellent CT side continued in OT, with the team leading 17-16 at halftime before closing the game at 19-16, completing their massive comeback from 7-13 down.

SAW will hope to build on this strong start by beating the Altekz-enhanced Astralis to lock in a Playoffs spot. Meanwhile, ENCE will try to bounce back against GamerLegion in the elimination game.
