Vitality takes #1 Ranking after Rio Victory

This week's HLTV ranking update sees IEM Katowice drop out of recent events, resulting in interesting ranking changes. Vitality, FaZe C9 and ENCE all move up in the Top 10, while NIP are the newest Top 10 member, replacing Virtus.Pro.

Vitality's recent run of form, which started with their RMR run, continued into IEM Rio, where the team not only had their two superstars, Spinx and Zywoo, performing but also saw the Danish duo of Magisk and Dupreeh put up monstrous performances when called upon. With Paris on the horizon, the event was the perfect opportunity for Vitality to build momentum for its home event. With other teams losing out on substantial points from IEM Katowice, Vitality has slid into the top slot going into the playoffs of the BLAST.TV Major Paris.

Heroic, NAVI, G2, FURIA drop points

The perennial runners-up Heroic also took a hit from the loss of Katowice points resulting in them losing their #1 crown just a week after they took it. Katowice champions G2 and semi-finalists NaVi also drop the rankings, thanks to Katowice. Meanwhile, FURIA's general lack of good event placings means they now sit in 9th place in the rankings.

NIP, Monte, Apeks and Gamerlegion make major jumps

The quartet of NIP, Monte, Apeks and Gamerlegion owe their incredible ranking jumps to their performance in the Challengers stage of the major. Gamerlegion and Monte both jumped up 9 spots in the rankings thanks to their victories over the likes of Fnatic, OG, MOUZ, FURIA, and NAVI.

With the playoffs of the Major set to begin soon and Legends stage results yet to be tallied in, one can expect teams like Liquid, Vitality, Monte, and Heroic to make big moves in the rankings thanks to their guaranteed playoffs finish at the biggest event of the year.
