"It was our first official on Vertigo" - DEFAULTER
Marcos Gaming closed out an incredibly close 2-0 series against 7SEA Esports, winning out Vertigo and Inferno with a round difference of just 4 across the entire series. This win seals Marcos Gaming's playoffs spot, sitting at #1 in the points table, having won 10 out of their 12 matches. After the match, we got a chance to talk to Marcos Gaming's Mastermind IGL, DEFAULTER and here's what he had to say about the match and their plans for the remainder of the league stage.
Took it right till the end but closed it out, can you talk us through Vertigo?
"We had predicted the Vertigo pick so preparations had gone into playing Vertigo against them (7SEA Esports). We were confident but this was our first time playing an official on Vertigo, so there were a bit of nerves and misplays that pushed the match into overtime otherwise we could've won it in regulation. Considering it is out first official on the map, we played well and we were confident enough to close out the map."
What happened towards the end of Inferno? You stopped their comeback literally at the last step, after you guys secured a comfortable match point.
"Actually I also don't know what happened to us, we start so strong every time and then on CT-side we concede a lot of rounds. We got a couple of kills on Banana and Bhavi killed Gh0sttt with a glock, in their complete eco, which could've given them momentum. So I told my team to avoid such mistakes in crucial rounds and just play as we usually do without getting nervous, which we did and closed out Inferno in the final round."
We're at the final phase of the league, are you planning to do something differently to set you up for the playoffs?
"We'll try to play something that is out of our comfort zone, we'll try new maps in the next two games because we know we have already qualified to the playoffs so I think it's time to try new stuff, give our guys more room to play freely. Rather than a rigid and structured approach, we can allow our guys to go for their plays. So yeah, definitely planning to try new stuff in the remaining two matches."
