DreamHack Hyderabad 2023: Day 1 recap
Technical delays, some Counter-Strike and more tech delays and that's how one can sum up the opening day of DreamHack Hyderabad 2023.
Technical issues plagued the opening day right from the first game as Revenant Esports' Bhavi suffered from multiple PC crashes. While the opening map against Marcos went through somehow, there was a two hour plus delay before we got to the second game of the day.
Coming to the Counter-Strike, it was flawless CS from DEFAULTER and the boys, as they cleaned up Revenant early on with relative ease, winning both their BO1s against f1redup and co.
The second set of games for the day saw Gods Reign take on the newly formed Enigma Gaming led by SpawN. After getting shutdown in their first match, comprehensively, SpawN called an excellent second game too, which saw Enigma stun Gods Reign, who came into the tournament as one of the favourites.
The final set of games of the day was the double-header between Marcos Gaming and Team Respect and while there was no respect in the server from psy and co., Marcos Gaming weren't falling prey to any sort of nonsense as they ended the opening day of DreamHack Hyderabad 2023 with four wins and have booked their spot in the Playoffs, on Sunday.
Revenant Esports and Team Respect both sit with two losses in Group A, but Team Respect hold a slight advantage with a better round difference. Revenant and Team Respect will both be fighting for their tournament lives tomorrow.
Group B had only one set of games today which saw Enigma Gaming hand Gods Reign a proper beating not once but twice and Enigma are now in prime position to book their Playoffs spot. Firedup Gaming in Group B are the only team who weren't seen in action on the opening day and with Gods Reign loss to Enigma, Firedup have a strong chance to make the Playoffs over Crazy_Gamer and co.
The action is set to get underway from 11:30 AM IST tomorrow and the matches can be followed live here.
