Cloud9, MOUZ secures Major spots

The second day at the EU RMR B of the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 saw Cloud9 and MOUZ book their spots for the inaugural Counter-Strike 2 Major.

After the ZywOo show on the opening day which saw them go 2-0 up, Vitality faced Cloud9, who also started with two wins, in the first BO3 qualification game. Overpass started the series where a flat T side from apEX and co. which helped Cloud9 start with a 13-8 win. Vitality answered back with a 13-8 win of their own on Inferno. Anubis was a lop-sided affair as Cloud9 started with 8 on their defensive half before closing things out at 13-5 to take the series 2-1 and book their spot in the Copenhagen Major.

MOUZ went up against the Spirit with the series starting on MOUZ's pick of Vertigo. With Counter-Strike's hottest property donk looking ordinary on Vertigo, it was siuhy leading from the front that saw MOUZ pick up a 13-10 win. siuhy called and fragged at the highest level once again on Mirage as MOUZ secured a 13-11 win to book their spot in the first CS2 Major.

In the elimination matches, Guild Eagles went up against Nexus with Guild Eagles starting with a 13-10 win on Mirage. Nexus bounced back strongly on Vertigo to secure a 13-8 win before Guild Eagles sent Nexus home after a 13-7 win on Ancient to keep themselves alive.

The second elimination game saw PERA go up against Preasy with five-time Major champion dupreeh's record of attending all the Majors on the line. PERA stunned Preasy to start the series with a 13-11 win on Anubis. Preasy fought back on Vertigo to take a 13-7 win with dupreeh leading from the front to take the series to the decider on Nuke. Nuke was the TMB show as Preasy smashed PERA 13-1 to keep themselves alive while PERA went home

While Vitality and Spirit's loss isn't the end of the world for them, they will hope to book their Major spot tomorrow while Preasy will be taking on Guild Eagles to keep their Copenhagen dreams alive.
