Indian run at the Esports World Cup 2024 Asia Open Qualifier ends in the Ro16
Following the opening two rounds at the Esports World Cup 2024 Asia Open Qualifier which saw teams like True Rippers, Grayfox Esports and Marcos Gaming get eliminated, we entered the third round with three Indian teams remaining in Gods Reign, Carnival Gaming and 2EZ Gaming.
Round 3
Gods Reign faced Mongolian squad, The QUBE in the third round with the action kicking off on Anubis. After a close 7-5 half, it was Bhavi and reV3nnnn leading from the front with 22 and 20 kills respectively as Gods Reign powered themselves to a 13-8 win.
Carnival Gaming, the other team who had made it through the opening couple of rounds took on DEWA United in the third round with the BO1 playing out on Anubis. The SpawN-led team failed to find their footing as they started on the backfoot with a 3-9 half and then was cleaned up with ease, going down 3-13 to end their campaign in the third round itself.
2EZ Gaming was the third and final Indian team who had made it to the third round. They took on Bangladesh's Red ViperZ with the action taking place on Ancient. A back-and-forth match saw two 7-5 halves before moving to overtime where the Indian team held on for a 19-16 win the second overtime to move ahead in the qualifier.
Round 4
Gods Reign face DEWA United in the Round of 16, with DEWA looking to eliminate back-to-back Indian teams after sending Carnival Gaming home in the previous round. With the BO1 taking place on Anubis, it was DEWA starting with a 7-5 advantage. R2B2 made sure that Gods Reign weren't going down without a fight as the Indian team pushed the game to the final round of regulation but fell at the last hurdle as DEWA snatched away a 13-11 win to end the Indian team's hopes.
2EZ Gaming took on LYG in their Round 4 game with Overpass being the battleground for the BO1. It was a flawless opening half at 12-0 from the Chinese team before shutting out 2EZ Gaming at 13-2 to send the final remaining Indian team packing from the event.
