Massive choke from TheMongolz sees them go down to VP
The only Asian team remaining in ESL Pro League Season 19, TheMongolz, got the Playoffs campaign underway against Virtus.pro (VP) in the Playoffs Round 2 game. This was also TheMongolz's first-ever S-Tier event Playoffs.
TheMongolz started VP's pick of Overpass by winning the CT pistol and went 4-0 up before electroNic and FL1T's openers got them on the board. VP could manage just three T rounds as a solid defensive hold from TheMongolz saw them start with a big 9-3 lead with Senzu closing out the half with an ace. While the second half pistol helped VP get back in the game, TheMongolz hung on for a 13-11 win to close out Overpass.
Even though they lost the opening pistol on Mirage, a couple of low buy round wins helped VP take a 9-3 lead on their CT side. VP turned around a 3v5 in the second pistol and that helped them lock in a 13-6 win to tie up the series.
TheMongolz started Ancient strongly on their CT side as 910 and Senzu propelled them to a 6-1 lead. An electroNic double Tec-9 opener gave VP their second but that was all they could manage as TheMongolz started with a dominant 10-2. bLitz led from the front to help TheMongolz turn around a 4v5 in the second half pistol to secure their 11th but crucial clutches from VP kept them afloat on Ancient and the Russians tied up the game in no time. VP turned it all the way around to steal away Ancient 13-11.
With the 2-1 series win, VP move into the quarter-finals and now will face Complexity in their next game.
