Skyesports Showdown 2024 Open Qualifier: Day 1 Recap

The Open Qualifier of the Skyesports Showdown 2024 got the Phase 1 underway as the teams were looking to take home the INR 1,00,000 prize pool from the online event. 16 teams battled it out in the eight scheduled BO1s with the eight winners moving to the next round.

Phase 1 - Round 1 (BO1s)

• True Rippers vs Lethals

After the officially revealing of their latest signing DayMake, True Rippers got their Skyesports Showdown campaign underway against Lethals and it was all True Rippers on Inferno as they breezed to a 13-3 win with Crazy_Gamer topping the sscoreboard with 18 kills with DayMake close behind with 15.

• Retaliation vs Rage.GG

Retaliation took on Rage.GG in their BO1 with the action taking place on Ancient. It was another one-sided affair as Retaliation powered by ReK0~ and Crush__ ran away to a comfortable 13-3 win to proceed to the next round.

• ROG Academy vs Smoke Esports

ROG Academy took on Smoke Esports with the likes of ChAmP and Antivirus in the server for ROG as the action kicked off. ChAmP made sure there was no upsets in the opening round as ROG took a 13-6 win on Vertigo.

• Marcos Gaming vs Gameworld Esports

Marcos Gaming faced barely any competition from GameWorld Esports as they breezed to a 13-3 win on Ancient with L0ngBarrel and arakyN topping the scoresheets with 19 and 18 kills respectively.

• Victores Sumus vs Old School Esports

Former 2EZ Gaming who are now rebranded as Victores Sumus kicked off their new chapter under the new name with a dominant 13-1 win over Old School Esports with bb1 dropping a 20 kill performance with an ADR of 155. No one from Old School Esports managed to cross double digits with their kills neither did they cross an ADR of over 100 either.

• The Old School vs AcE - Extreme Legacy

The Old School took on AcE - Extreme Legacy in their BO1 encounter which took place on Vertigo. It was a big win for The Old School as the secured a 13-8 win with Kix-fuRy dropping 24 kills in regulation.

• Carnival Gaming vs Invasion Esports

The veterans at Carnival Gaming kicked off their Showdown campaign against Invasion Esports with Mirage being the battleground. Invasion Esports pushed Carnival Gaming to the limit as SpawN and co. were able to just edge out their opponents and get away with a 13-11 win to avoid a big upset.

The eight winners from today's games will take part in the Round 2 games tomorrow, which will be BO3s and the four winning teams will move to Phase 2.
