Maka 'We look forward to coming back'
Coming into the Playoffs, not many would have given 3DMAX a chance to walk away with the trophy with the likes of The MongolZ, Eternal Fire and Aurora also being in the mix but the French team stepped up when needed and dominated their opponents in the Grand Final to become the champions of Skyesports Championship 2024.
Following their big win over The MongolZ, 3DMAX's star Maka spoke to Dust2 India to discuss their tournament and more.
You guys came to India with a plan, to get more points for the RMR. But now you will be leaving with a trophy and $120k. How does it feel?
It feels very good. More because we have been struggling with LANs, especially in meeting the expectations of the French people. But now we can prove our roster on LANs. So, very happy.
You have surprised everyone this tournament. What factor worked for you guys this tournament?
What worked for us is that we found the identity in the things that make us the best in the server. Especially our coach (wasiNk), he really knows how to use every player. So I think this is really important to make the people comfortable.
What kind of IGL do you consider yourself to be? Are you more about precise calling or you go with the loose style?
I think I am quite in between. I like to give people space, but when I have some precise ideas, I go straight and don't give space to anyone. But I think it's the best to have balance to make sure everyone performs.
I think it's quite evident that you are a momentum based team. After that CT half on Nuke against Aurora, you felt down and out. But you turned things around in the endgame and now you have steamrolled The MongolZ. How important do you think momentum is in your team?
I think momentum is something important for every team. In our team, there is nobody that hypes everyone else, but it's more about confidence. When we start winning rounds and closing rounds, we automatically get confidence.
How would you finally describe your stay in India, and your journey throughout?
I think it could have been a great trip, but due to the season, a lot of rains, it is not easy to enjoy India. At the end we didn't have time to go out of the hotel, etc, but we look forward to coming back.
