GR secure the penultimate Asia RMR spot
At the final juncture of Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 East Asia RMR Closed Qualifiers, GR Gaming locked horns with ATOX. Kicking off on their map Pick Anubis, GR Gaming secured 8 rounds on their CT side. However, ATOX kicked into a higher gear when it came to their own CT side, edging out GR with a 13-11 score line to win the first map.
The match continued on the second map Inferno, which seemingly repeated the narrative from Anubis, as ATOX looked to bounce back from a 4-8 deficit, narrowing it down to 7-8. However, GR were able to stop them in their tracks this time around, clinching a 13-8 victory.
The final map, Dust 2, kicked off on a knife's edge, as both teams traded blows in an attempt to get a hold of momentum. After a 6-6 half, GR surged ahead on their CT side in the second half early on by converting the first 5 our of 6 rounds, and closed out the game with a 13-10 win.
With the 2-1 series win, GR become the seventh team in the Asia RMR and fourth team from the Asia RMR qualifiers to proceed to Shanghai.
