Gods Reign storms into the Grand Final following dominant Ancient showing
On the final day of the Asia RMR Closed Qualifier, the two Indian teams, Gods Reign and True Rippers faced each other in the Consolidation Final as they were looking to set up a Grand Final date with Alter Ego. While True Rippers was looking to make the lower bracket run stick, Gods Reign had revenge on their mind after being outclassed by Alter Ego in the upper bracket final.
reV3nnnn kicked things off on Inferno with a 1HP clutch to give Gods Reign the T pistol. It was the reV3nnnn show early on with crucial clutches from Mcg1LLzZz as Gods Reign ran away to an 8-0 start. It was a B hold from DEFAULTER that finally got True Rippers on the board and they managed to get one more round in the final round of the half as Gods Reign started with a 10-2 lead.
The second half pistol win helped True Rippers cut down the lead to three rounds before f1redup and reV3nnnn's A hold got Gods Reign's first CT round on the board. While True Rippers did get a couple of more rounds, Gods Reign were in no mood to entertain any comebacks as they closed Inferno at 13-9.
True Rippers started Anubis, Gods Reign's pick, with the T-sided pistol and a 4-0 lead. Bhavi and reV3nnnn's aggressive mid-play got Gods Reign on the board and it was soon brought to a one-round game. Three rounds was all Gods Reign managed on their defensive side as True Rippers started with a nine-round T side.
A f1redup triple saw Gods Reign pick up a much needed pistol on their T side and a couple of multi-kill rounds from reV3nnnn and f1redup helped Gods Reign get to 7 but that was all as True Rippers forced a decider after picking up Anubis at 13-7.
Ph1NNN and Bhavi kicked off Ancient with a 2v4 retake and it was early impact from Gods Reign's captain that propelled them to a 4-0 lead. Along with Bhavi, it was Ph1NNN and f1redup who helped Gods Reign start the decider with a healthy lead at 10-2.
The second half pistol all but sealed Gods Reign's place in the Grand Final as they eased to a commanding 13-2 win to lock in a massive 2-1 series win.
Gods Reign will take on Alter Ego in the Grand Final of the Asia RMR Closed Qualifier and it will be a rematch of the upper bracket final with the Indian team looking to book not only an Asia RMR spot but also get revenge for their drubbing the day before.
