Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR Closed Qualifier: Stats for the Indian teams

Taking a closer look at the performances of the Indian teams and players

The Perfect World 2024 Shanghai Major Asia RMR Closed Qualifiers are done and dusted, and unfortunately for Indian fans and supporters, both Gods Reign and True Rippers fell short of qualifying despite showing a lot of potential.

Nevertheless, it's a significant improvement compared to past results, and the future looks bright. Gods Reign had the lowest rating out of the three teams, despite making it the farthest, as they had to encounter Alter Ego twice. On the other hand, True Rippers, who demolished everyone in the Closed Qualifiers, had the highest rating of the three Indian teams.

Let us put these teams under a magnifying glass, and delve into the stats of the Closed Qualifiers to see how they performed.

Gods Reign (Team Rating : 1.02)

Starting with Gods Reign, who won their opening BO1s with scores of 13-5 and 13-7 against ONi and Forward to remain in the upper bracket. However, they then suffered a 1-13 loss against Alter Ego, and despite a 2-1 victory against True Rippers, they fell short in the final step with a 0-2 loss to Alter Ego once again.

Ph1NNN stood as the top performer in the team, head and shoulders above the rest with his 1.23 rating. reV3nnnn stood in second place with his 1.13, marking the only two Indian players with a positive rating. It was a disappointing series for f1redup, who was Gods Reign's top performer in PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 Asia RMR Closed Qualifiers with his 1.32 rating, as he could only manage a 0.94 this season.

Team Statistics : Gods Reign

When it came to finding openings, it wasn't a dedicated role, as each individual on the side chimed in. On the T-side, Bhavi made more opening attempts, while f1redup was the most passive. Mcg!LLzZz was the most successful in securing openings, with Ph1NNN taking the second spot. However, on the CT side is where Ph1NNN thrived, finding 70% success rate in his opening attempts.

Out of the eight maps played, Anubis was one that Gods Reign showed a lot of faith in, but it didn't quite pay off. Despite a BO1 win against Forward, Gods Reign lost on Anubis twice, with scores of 13-1 and 13-7. Ancient turned out to be their best map, with two wins and one loss in the final. Mirage saw one loss, while Inferno had one win to their name.

True Rippers (Team Rating : 1.19)

Losing the opening match 11-13 against Niory caused True Rippers to slip to the lower bracket, where they had to play a total of 10 maps before getting eliminated by Gods Reign 1-2. However, they dominated in those 10 maps, beating Dewa United 2-1, Forward 2-0, and ONi with a clean 2-0.

Overall, each player had a positive rating as the event concluded. DayMake was the top performer on the TR side with a 1.34 rating. DEFAULTER, who was relieved of his IGL duties before the event, followed closely with a 1.26 rating. Rossi and True Rippers' newest addition, Crunchy, recorded 1.17 and 1.16 ratings, respectively, while Crazy_Gamer boasted a 1.03 rating.

Team Statistics : True Rippers

On the T-side, DayMake thrived with the AWP, achieving a 67.7% success rate in 25% of his opening attempts. Rossi was the most passive player on the side, making only 7.4% of the attempts. However, this was justified as he took sole responsibility for supporting the team, blinding opponents for an average of 1.9 seconds each round. DayMake's opening success rate increased even further on the CT side, with a 58.6% success rate in over 30% of his attempts.

True Rippers maintained a 100% win rate on Mirage, which they won against Forward. However, their favorite map was Inferno, which they picked first three times, losing only to Gods Reign. On Ancient, their second favorite map, they recorded two wins and two losses. Finally, Anubis, a map picked by Gods Reign and Forward after seeing True Rippers lose on it to Dewa United, ended with True Rippers winning both subsequent matches.

Niory (Team Rating 1.08)

The recently formed mix, consisting of two Russian, two Indian, and one Latvian player, was among the first teams to be eliminated. Despite winning their opening BO1 against True Rippers, they lost 8-13 to Alter Ego and were subsequently eliminated after a 1-2 loss to ONi.

Despite the early exit, WadeShot emerged as the highest performer on the team and the third best overall with a 1.34 rating. He also achieved a 66.7% success rate in over 16.7% of his attempts, while emot1on made the most opening attempts. Regarding the Indian representation in the team, N1kace held a positive rating of 1.05, while BuNTz posted a 0.71 rating. While BuNTz was the lowest performer on the T-side, N1kace struggled on the CT-side.

Team Statistics : Niory

The team relied more on individual firepower, as the utility usage was lacking on Niory's side. Out of the five maps played, Niory managed to win on Ancient both times they played it. However, they lost every other map: a 13-8 loss on Dust 2, 13-5 on Anubis, and 13-11 on Mirage.
