ATOX's EPL S20 campaign on the line today
ATOX's came agonisingly close to making it to the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR, after going down in the Grand Final of the East Asia RMR Qualifier and the Mongolian squad would've been looking to put that disappointment behind when they kicked off their ESL Pro League Season 20 campaign. Slotted in Group D with the likes of Vitality, Team Liquid, Virtus.pro and Falcons, it was never going to be easy but the Mongolian squad have been dropped to the Last Chance Stage and will be fighting for their tournament lives later on today.
The Mongolian team kicked off their EPL campaign against Vitality and against all the odds, put Vitality on the backfoot on Inferno. Following a tied opening half, it was Annihilation's AWP countering and overpowering ZywOo for majority of the map as ATOX threatened to push Vitality to overtime after fighting back from 8-12 to take it to all the rounds of regulation although Vitality ran away with it right at the end. Annihilation's AWP was on song once again on Nuke but it was a cleaner wrap up job from Vitality as they picked up a 13-7 win to take the series.
In their lower bracket game, ATOX faced Falcons, who unfortunately for the Asian team, got into form at the wrong time for ATOX. Falcons were dominant on ATOX's pick of Ancient, going 13-5 and Snappi and his boys went one better on Anubis as ATOX was sent to the Last Chance Stage following a 13-4 win.
ATOX today will take on gla1ve's ENCE in their Last Chance Stage game with the loser set to be eliminated from the event. ENCE's recent struggles will give some hope to ATOX as they will look to stay afloat at the ESL Pro League Season 20.
