Strong opening day at Atlanta for FlyQuest; Rooster falter
The opening day at ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 saw both OCE representatives, FlyQuest and Rooster in action with dexter and co. having a strong outing in the opening two BO1s while Rooster suffered a big loss to SAW.
FlyQuest kicked off the tournament with their Group A BO1 against BetBoom, with the action taking place on Dust2. The trio of INS, Liazz and aliStair helped the Australian team start with a 10-round CT side before easing to a 13-3 win.
Next up was Rooster, who faced one of the tournament favourites, SAW, in their Group A encounter. The action took place on Nuke and while there was some fight from the Australian squad on their T-side, it was a clean-sweep from the Portuguese squad on their offensive half as SAW locked in a 13-4 win.
The final game of the day was the Group A winners' game which saw FlyQuest extract revenge on SAW for their fellow compatriots. Taking place on Inferno, it was a tied opening half with FlyQuest starting on the T side. INS and dexter shut down the Portuguese side once the sides switched, which resulted in FlyQuest picking up a 13-9 win.
Rooster will be in action, tonight at 20:00 IST, fighting for their tournament lives against BetBoom in the Group A elimination game. FlyQuest meanwhile have locked in a Playoffs spot thanks to their 2-0 record on the opening day. The winner of ESL Challenger Atlanta 2024 will book a direct berth at ESL Pro League Season 21.
