All teams locked in for the Shanghai Major

The RMRs for the Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 have run their course and all twenty four teams have booked their slots by clearing the RMR. Out of these teams, sixteen will start in the Opening Stage of the Major where a Swiss bracket determines eight teams that advance to the Elimination Stage.

Four slots each from the European RMRs A and B lead straight to the Elimination Stage of the Major which were grabbed by Vitality, NAVI, MOUZ and FaZe from European RMR A meanwhile RMR B's Elimination Stage entrées will be announced shortly.

The Asian RMR was the first to begin, determining the first batch of teams that would make a Major appearance. Eight teams went into the Major, out of which three teams made it to the Major. Rare Atom was the first team to clear the Asia RMR, putting up a flawless run, followed by The MongolZ who dropped just a single map. The RMR concluded with FlyQuest taking down Lynn Vision to book the final slot from the Asia RMR.

The Americas RMR started with sixteen teams including eight teams from regional closed qualifiers in North America and South America in a Swiss bracket with a designated seventh place decider spot for the last Major spot. Wildcard was the only closed qualifier team to clear the RMRs as six out the seven slots were grabbed by invited teams.

MIBR and Wildcard put up dominant showings, going into the Major with a 3-0 RMR run. paIN, Liquid and Complexity dropped just a single game in the Americas while FURIA and Imperial had a rough run, scraping through in their final games in the 2-2 bracket.

Holding the bulk of the slots for the Major and the only region that hands out slots directly to the Elimination Stage of the Major- Europe runs two RMRs featuring sixteen teams each. With fourteen Major slots on the line (seven from each RMR), the European RMRs run a Swiss bracket with a designated seventh place match, just like the Americas RMR.

Vitality breezed through the European RMR A without dropping a single map, booking their Elimination Stage spot alongside MOUZ who trailed the French org in the same RMR. With their 3-1 record, NAVI also booked an Elimination Stage spot and upon taking down Cloud9 in the fourth place tie-breaker, FaZe will start in the Elimination stage as well. fnatic and GamerLegion scraped through with a 3-2 record.

European RMR B was packed with upset after upset, eventually leading to 3DMAX and BIG qualifying in the 3-0 bracket. Despite BIG's flawless run, the Germans will not get a direct spot in the Elimination Stage of the Major as per HLTV's report. Spirit, who started the year with tremendous form, nearly missed out on a Major spot, scraping through with a 3-2 record after taking down Ninjas in Pyjamas in the seventh place tiebreaker.

The Opening Stage of the Perfect World Shanghai 2024 Major starts this weekend- 30th November 2024 with sixteen teams locking horns in a swiss bracket to determine the eight teams that advance to the Elimination Stage where a similar format determines the playoffs candidates. Representing Asia, The MongolZ and Rare Atom will start in the Opening Stage.
