CS:GO hits 1.8 Million Concurrent users
After the already mind-blowing highs of 1.5 million that the game set in March after the launch of Counter-Strike 2's limited beta, CSGO has set a new concurrent player record at a whopping 1,818,773 players. For context, Sudhen 'Bleh' Wahengbam tweeted out noting how the game has more players than the next 5 steam games combined.
This new peak comes as we head into the final Valve-sponsored Major in CS:GO history, BLAST.tv Major Paris. The release of Paris stickers and Pickems may be a part of the sudden growth, but with no new playable content being added to the game, this sudden peak is almost entirely organic.
Counter-Strike 2 is on the horizon, with a stated Summer 2023 release. As CS2 will be offered as an update to all CS:GO owners, it will likely use the same game ID on steam and thus, for the first time, a new CS game will be replacing the old one entirely. So this could be the last few weeks for players to continue enjoying the game that has been the source of so many amazing moments for the last decade.
In the last hour alone, the number has increased from 1.75 million to 1.81 million. Could we be pushing towards breaking the 2,000,000 barriers?
