lmbt to miss BLAST.tv Major Paris
Days before the BLAST.tv Paris Major Monte has received an unfortunate blow as their coach Sergey "lmbt" Bezhanov announced that he would be unable to travel to Paris due to travel restrictions imposed amid the ongoing war in Ukraine. lmbt expressed his regrets over being unable to obtain an exception to leave the country as the conflict prohibits Ukrainian men aged 18 to 60 from travelling due to potential military mobilization.
These guidelines have posed significant challenges to Ukrainian esports professionals, forcing them to choose between staying home or facing prolonged separation from their homeland. Luckily, Monte's Ukrainian trio arrived in Paris in time for the Major.
Facing the immense pressure of playing their first-ever major together, they will surely miss the guidance and support of coach lmbt at the tournament. Despite being a top-seeded team, they face one of the toughest opponents in their first match against FaZe, who qualified from the Last Chance Qualifier.
Monte has proven their skills in the EU RMR B, exceeding expectations and qualifying with a 3-1 record. They defeated teams like ENCE, Cloud9 and FORZE, with their only loss being at the hands of Heroic. They fell to Vitality in the Legends decider. Monte enters the Major as an underdog, ready to challenge the favourites.
Despite missing lmbt, Monte has shown remarkable proficiency in tier-two online tournaments. They recently won their fifth online title since March at the CCT West Europe Series 3 and finished as runners-up in the CCT Central Europe Series 6.
While Monte will undoubtedly feel the absence of Coach Lmbt and his invaluable expertise, they remain determined to deliver their best performance in the BLAST.tv Paris Major. The coach's absence serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges faced by Ukrainian esports professionals due to the ongoing conflict in their home country.
