Paris Major 2023 Legends Stage: Day 3 recap
Another action packed day comes to an end and it was not one without surprises, upsets and heartbreaks. We had the likes of Monte and Liquid qualify for the Champions Stage but we also had to say goodbye to NiKo and his teammates following a devastating loss for G2.
Here's a quick recap of the day's action.
Qualified:
Monte were the first team to qualify for the Champions Stage on Day 3 of the Legends Stage as they hammered Navi in a clinical manner to come out on top in the Ukrainian derby. Liquid made it to their first playoffs since 2019 after they 2-0 Into the Breach with oSee putting in an inspired performance for Liquid.
The final game of the day saw siuhy and his men put up a clinical performance against Apeks that helped them book a spot in the Champions Stage and like Liquid, they were 0-2 in the Challengers Stage and have managed to turn it around.
One last chance:
The day kicked off with Ninjas in Pyjamas keeping their Major dream alive as they took down ENCE in a 2-0 manner, following two quick maps. It was Brollan who stepped up for the Ninjas as he put in strong performances across both maps. FaZe took on Bad News Eagles next and after losing the opening map, FaZe were staring at another quick Major elimination but ropz made sure FaZe pulled through as the Estonian went above and beyond that saw FaZe hold on to a crucial 2-1 series win to keep themselves in the tournament.
Into the Breach also have one final chance to make it to the playoffs after their loss to Liquid while fnatic's win over G2 keeps their hopes for a fourth CS:GO Major alive.
Natus Vincere's loss to Monte puts them also in the 2-2 bracket and s1mple now has one final chance to make it to the playoffs in the final CS:GO Major. Apeks' loss to GamerLegion sees them fight in the 2-2 bracket as well on the final day.
The dream's over:
ENCE were the first team to be eliminated in the day as they went down to Ninjas in Pyjamas with Snappi and his men just not showing up to the server when they needed to. FaZe's scrappy win over Bad News Eagles (BNE) meant it was the end of the line for BNE as well.
The biggest upset of the day though was that of fnatic's win over G2 as G2 let a 1-0 lead in the series slip to see themselves miss out on the final CS;GO Major playoffs. G2's map veto was questionable and with the likes of NiKo and m0NESY both having poor performances in the series decider, G2 and NiKo will leave CS:GO without a Major trophy.
