All smiles for MOUZ as they eliminated OG

MOUZ secure IEM Dallas Playoffs over OG

dexter's troops emerge victorious in the international derby to secure a quarter-finals berth

MOUZ has had a rough go of things since the IEM Rio Major. What looked like a solid streak of playoff appearances turned into a series of failures across 2023. Coming into Dallas with the post-Major hangover in full force across the board, MOUZ were hoping to capitalise on it with a playoff appearance. A loss to Heroic was followed by a win over FURIA to set up a match against OG for qualification. Their opponent, who had been cruising by on lack of expectations due to an unstable roster, came into the match with a stand-in and a win of the smallest margins over 9z. Despite historically being pretty even, this time, MOUZ were the favourites.

The game started off on Mirage with MOUZ picking up the pistol round conversions for 3. OG managed to pick up a couple of rounds through the half, but with just regali performing to the level of MOUZ's players and the frozen-dexter combo dominating the half, MOUZ walked away with a 10-5 half. regali was the star of the show giving OG the pistol with his dualies, and flameZ extended it with a double Molotov. OG's defence slowly built up to double digits, but MOUZ immediately took over and smashed through to close the map out 16-10.

Inferno once again gave MOUZ the early favour with 3 on the trot from the pistol. A F1KU triple helped OG open their account, but MOUZ retained control to put 7 on the board. And they continued to run rampant through the Italian streets to put up a 12-3 half, with F1KU's Deagle triple being the only speedbump.

Pistol round conversion gave OG a quick set of 3, but MOUZ answered back with a full buy for 13. OG managed just one more round win before the defence secured match point at 15-6. With the economy broken, it was just regali's AWP to keep OG alive, and the 20-year-old did everything to pull off an ACE win. After that miraculous round, OG managed to fumble their opportunity to a bunch of USP kills, as MOUZ secured the penultimate playoffs berth at IEM Dallas.
