The Mongolz headed to the inaugural CS2 Major
The final day of the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 kicked off with the upper bracket final between The Mongolz and Lynn Vision with the winner of the BO3 booking a place at the inaugural CS2 Major.
Ancient was the opener and it was a neck-and-neck map with a 6-6 opening half. The Mongolz's defensive half got underway with five in a row which put them on the brink of a map win. It was another strong map from Techno as The Mongolz closed out their own map pick at 13-8.
Lynn Vision got their pick of Nuke going with a Westmelon 1v1. The Chinese team failed to capitalise on it as The Mongolz got on the board once they got the guns out and went on a four-round streak. It was an upgraded pistol buy with a Starry 1v2 on the B site that got Lynn Vision back on the board.
It was all The Mongolz thereafter as multi-kill after multi-kill from Techno and bLitz saw the Mongolian team read every Lynn Vision execute that helped them go 9-3 up. A flawless T side from The Mongolz saw them wrap up Nuke at 13-3 to take the series 2-0.
The win sees The Mongolz book their spot in the PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 and are the first team from the Asia RMR to qualify. It's not all over for Lynn Vision though as they will play in the Lower Consolidation Final later on today.
By making the Copenhagen Major, The Mongolz now have made it to their fourth consecutive Major.
