AURORA SECURES SKYESPORTS MASTERS 2024 TITLE
After a week of action, the Grand Final of the Skyesports Masters 2024 saw Aurora take on OG with the Russians looking to make it back-to-back Skyesports CS2 events champions, after picking up the Grand Slam 2024 trophy earlier in March 2024.
The BO5 Grand Final got underway in quite the anti-climatic manner as Aurora's stellar defense on OG's pick of Anubis saw them start 10-2 before closing it out at 13-6. OG fought back with a strong CT side of their own on Mirage going 9-3 but with Aurora once again putting up a strong defence, OG hung on for a narrow 13-11 win to tie the series 1-1.
Ancient was a back and forth affair as neither team was willing to budge but it was Aurora securing a 13-10 win as the Russians found form late on their T side to go 2-1 up in the series. Overpass was a one-sided show as Aurora began with a big 10-2 lead on their T side and they didn't waste time to close out the map at 13-3 to secure the series 3-1. Aurora takes the championship with a near flawless run, dropping just one map in the entire event, which was Mirage in the Grand Final itself.
With the win, Aurora secures the Skyesports Masters 2024 title and a prize money of $105,000. The title also means that Aurora make it back-to-back Skyesports CS2 event titles after winning Skyesports Grand Slam 2024 last month, albeit that was with a different roster as they had BELCHONOKK instead of r3salt for the LAN in Pune in March 2024.
