True Rippers sees off Gods Reign's comeback attempt to win India Qualifiers
After suffering a loss on the opening day, Gods Reign made the run through the Lower Bracket and took down Carnival Gaming and Marcos Gaming on their way to the final of the Skyesports Championship 2024 India Closed Qualifier and were up against True Rippers, who were the ones to hand Bhavi and his boys a loss on the opening day.
The Grand Final got underway on way on True Rippers' pick of Ancient as Gods Reign's CT side got things going. After starting with four consecutive rounds on the defensive half, True Rippers hit Gods Reign with a pistol rush which saw them get on the board thanks to Mcg!LLzZz opening things up with a double on the Tec-9. True Rippers used the momentum to start with a two round lead before a strong defensive hold with DayMake and Mcg!LLzZz having a strong showing saw them start with a 13-7 win.
Anubis saw DEFAULTER and co. start with another two-round lead, as Crazy_Gamer, who had a quiet Ancient, stepped up. A couple of crucial clutches from reV3nnnn and Bhavi kept Gods Reign in the game and it was an R2B2 1v2 that saw them take the map to overtime after being 6-11 down. It was R2B2 once again coming in clutch as his 1v2 on the B site saw Gods Reign close out Anubis at 19-15.
It was the Mcg!LLzZz and Rossi show to get True Rippers' defence underway on Nuke as they started with a big 10-2 lead. Gods Reign fought back and threatened a comeback once again on their CT side but True Rippers managed to hold on for a 13-10 win to lock in a 2-1 series win.
The win sees True Rippers become the eighth and final team at the Skyesports Championship 2024 and they will be the Indian representatives at Mumbai in the LAN event, which is set to take place between July 23 - 28, 2024.
