The MongolZ suffer back-to-back upsets
The final game of the opening day at the 5E Arena Asia Cup Fall 2024 BLAST Premier Fall Showdown Qualifier saw The MongolZ take on CatEvil in the Group A decider game after The MongolZ were stunned by Rare Atom earlier in the day.
CatEvil got Ancient underway with a 4-0 lead on their T side bfore The MongolZ quickly tied things up with bLitz leading from the front. senzu's Deagle made sure The MongolZ tied the half at 6-6, stealing away the final round of the half with upgraded pistols and one M4A1-S.
CatEvil picked up both pistols on Ancient and it was a trade of rounds as The MongolZ kept themselves in the game thanks to a couple of crucial low buy wins. Eventually it was Roninbaby sticking a smoke defuse in the very final round in regulation which saw CatEvil secure an upset 13-11. CatEvil's win means that they not only keep themselves alive for a Fall Showdown spot but also that they have knocked out The MongolZ from the event.
