The MongolZ win Thunderpick World Championship 2024
It was The MongolZ looking to pick up their second LAN trophy of the year as they faced HEROIC in the Grand Final of the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 and the Asian squad dominated to take a 3-1 win the BO5 Grand Final as they not only picked up some crucial silverware and also gained momentum ahead of the Shanghai Major Asia RMR.
The Grand Final got underway on HEROIC's pick of Dust2, which saw them start with a trade of rounds early on to have a tied opening half before The MongolZ powered up on their T side to go 13-8. Ancient saw the trio of NertZ, degster and TeSeS get HEROIC back into the Grand Final, with a 13-6 win before The MongolZ started with two-round lead on HEROIC's pick of Anubis on their T side. The MongolZ seemed to be cruising to another dominating win at 12-6 before NertZ and sjuush woke up late to take it all rounds of regulation but bLitz denied degster 1v2 to take a 13-11 win.
Mirage was just The MongolZ running all over the map and HEROIC as they started with a commanding and assertive T side, going 10-2 up before closing things out at 13-2 to take the series and championship 3-1 in the Grand Final.
The win sees The MongolZ pick up their second LAN trophy of the year, after winning the YaLLa Compass 2024 title earlier in the year and along with the Thunderpick World Championship 2024 crown, the Asian team also nets home a prize money of $500,000 while HEROIC walk away in second place with $150,000.
