Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR Day1: Recap

The Asian RMR got things going for the Shanghai Major 2024 as we had eight teams battling it out to make it to the first-ever Asian Counter-Strike Major. While there was some technical delays, there was plenty of action in the server as well as the likes of The MongolZ, Rare Atom and DRILLAS were on song.

If you missed out on the day's action, don't worry, here's a quick recap of how things went down on the opening day at the Shanghai Major 2024 Asia RMR.

The MongolZ, DRILLAS set for Major showdown

One of the biggest favourites, The MongolZ kicked things off against BnTeT and XigN's Alter Ego. While The MongolZ started with a massive CT side advantage, Alter Ego showed promise on their own defensive half, although the opening half gap turned out to be too much as The MongolZ started with a 13-8 win.

The much anticipated match of the DRILLAS kicked off after some tech delays with ohnePixeL's squad taking on home team Lynn Vision. It was a close game which saw DRILLAS deny Lynn Vision a comeback chance, to secure a 13-11 win.

The MongolZ and DRILLAS will play each other in the upper bracket semi-final tomorrow, with the winner of that BO3 heading straight to the Shanghai Major but its not all over for the loser as they will drop to the lower bracket.

Alter Ego and Lynn Vision meanwhile, have already dropped to the lower bracket after their opening day losses and will be battling for survival tomorrow against each other.

Rare Atom breeze through; TALON cause big upset

The other home team, Rare Atom went up against the underdogs GR and Rare Atom wasted no time in dispatching the GR, locking in a dominating 13-4 win.

The final game of the opening day was the Oceania derby, which saw FlyQuest take on TALON and despite a strong start on their T side, FlyQuest fumbled as TALON ran away with a stunning 13-9 win to end the day with a big upset.

Rare Atom will take on TALON in the second upper bracket semi-final tomorrow with a Major slot waiting for the winner of the game while the loser will drop to the lower bracket.

FlyQuest meanwhile have fallen to the lower bracket and will face GR as both teams are one BO3 loss away from heading home.
