Mercury: "JamYoung is important for a lot of our strategies"

TYLOO second Chinese team in the Playoffs in Shanghai

TYLOO's path to the Playoffs of the eXTREMESLAND Asia Open 2024 saw been relatively easy as they saw off SemperFi and IHC with relative ease in their two BO1 games in the Group Stages.

Following their qualification to the Playoffs, TYLOO's Mercury spoke with Dust2 India about his team's performance and Playoff goals.

After you won the pistol (on Nuke) and anti-eco, IHC got momentum in gun rounds. You broke it and won five rounds in a row, what did you do differently?

IHC showed strength in the early half, we immediately took a timeout and our coach guided us, he told us to watch out for their aggression and just channel our focus on the details. We just concentrated on executed what we practiced.

How good was JamYoung? He has been a consistent performer for his team in the big stage, can you talk about how important he is to the team?

JamYoung in the team is like a free man, he is important for a lot of our strategies throughout the tournament due to his ability to get entries consistently. He is definitely a big advantage for TYLOO.

Asian Counter-Strike in general sees a lot of roster changes, like almost after each tournament, how do you guys adjust and adapt so quickly?

It just really comes down to the finer details as we head into a match, like picking what kind of strategy or play style we approach the game with. We pick this based on who we’re playing with and what they’re best at and we will try to play as reactively as possible to avoid over complicating things.

What are you looking forward to in the Playoffs? Do you expect tough competition from teams like Rare Atom?

Yeah it will be, especially when we face tough teams like Rare Atom, the competition will be very strong. We just need to keep practicing and when the times we should be able to reproduce the strategies we’ve practiced on the server. When we head into the match we need to pay attention to what they’re doing, try to deal with problems in real time and adjust very quickly as per the situation.
