0scar: "If we channel our confidence correctly, we can do it actually"
It's been a strong tournament for the teams from the MENA region at the eXTREMESLAND Asia Open 2024 and XO is one of those squads who have impressed and taken big scalps on their way to the semi-final.
Following their win over Mongolia's Chinggis Warriors in the quarter-finals, XO's 0scar spoke to Dust2 India about making it to the final four and more.
0SAMAS had a brilliant game on Mirage, can you talk about how he approached the map and your game plan on Mirage as a team?
Our game plan wasn’t up to the mark. We have been practicing for this from about three weeks only so we couldn’t get in proper strategies and scripts for our rounds. There were a lot of tournaments in between and a few Saudi Leagues as well, so we had our hands full coming into this LAN.
0SAMAS is one of the top 3 rated players at the event currently with a rating of 1.40 across 5 maps.
That 1v2 on Ancient at 8-7. Can you talk us through the clutch and what you were thinking the whole time? How did you read the play?
The whole time I knew that there was a guy in CT and my teammates confirmed the second guy’s position as well so after I got the first pick I was sure that the other guy would be looking to close the gap and take a close fight to get weapon advantage so the only place he could do that was in the smoke on A-site. I wasn’t sure about the time, someone in my team shouted “you have time! You have time!” So I just ran B and thankfully I got it down just in time after which I just played defensively and peeked off of info.
What happened towards the end of Ancient? You guys had a good start but it got away from you. Was there something unexpected that Chinggis Warriors did?
They countered us well in the first round with the stack and then the next round they were confident enough to take straight fights and get the round. Our enemy’s only weakness was mid and we didn’t take mid the entire T-side, so we played into their strengths. They surprised us but we stayed strong and closed it out.
You are 2 wins away from winning eXTREMESLAND 2024, how’s the environment in the camp? What are you looking forward to tomorrow?
I mean yeah, it’s going to be really hard. We’re talking about teams like Rare Atom, they play good Counter-Strike, they’re a tier 1 team. If we channel our confidence correctly and put up good individual performances like winning aim duels, we can do it actually, we’ll try our best. If they play the same level as they’ve been doing so far in this tournament, I think we can take them down.
