Movistar Riders shuts out ECSTATIC
Movistar Riders booked their tickets to the finals of the ESL Challenger Melbourne 2023 following their rout of ECSTATIC, which saw them wipe out the Danes in two straight maps. Movistar Riders will now play the Bad News Eagles in the Grand Finals.
The second semi-final got underway on ECSTATIC's pick of Nuke with the Danish squad taking the pistol starting on the T side. Movistar Riders responded immediately and a strong half from the Spaniards saw them end the first half 10-5 with ECSTATIC throwing away multiple man advantage situations. ECSTATIC took a much-needed pistol to kick off their CT side. The Danes put together 4 CT rounds before Movistar put their first T half on board. That one round broke ECSTATIC's economy and it didn't take the Spaniards long after that, as closed the map 15-11 as mopoz ended the first map with 28 kills and a 1.45 rating and was crucial with multiple important entry kills which set up the rounds for the Spaniards.
The second map of the series was on Movistar Rider's pick of Inferno with the Spaniards starting on the T side and taking the pistol. It seemed like Movistar would run away with the first half after being 9-0 up but ECSTATIC managed to put together a couple of rounds towards the end of the first half to end the half 9-6. The Danish team built on their momentum to take an unlikely pistol which they shouldn't have but Movistar bounced back with the force buy. Movistar ran away with the half from there, to take seven match points at 15-8. The Danes were kept alive by two crucial clutches from Queenix and salazar against map point. ESCTATIC managed to pull it all the way to round 30, but Movistar Riders made sure they closed out the game in regulation, sealing the map 16-14.
