Heartbreak for Liquid as they stare at elimination
FORZE have managed to put Liquid on the brink of elimination after taking them down 16-14 to go 1-1 themselves. Liquid were up 14-12 before FORZE produced a comeback to end the first day of the Challengers Stage at the Paris Major 2023 with a win.
The 0-1 game kicked off on Nuke with Liquid starting on the T side. FORZE won the pistol but Liquid bounced back on the force-buy. Liquid went 3-1 up before FORZE put together six gun rounds before Liquid got their fourth T round. nitr0's double entry on A site saw Liquid put back-to-back rounds together to get the score to 7-5. Liquid managed to reduce the deficit with a couple of crucial rounds towards the end of their T side to end the first half 7-8.
FORZE increased their lead after taking the second pistol and zorte came in with a 1v2 clutch against Liquid's force buy to help FORZE secure double digits. Liquid got their first defensive round on the board thanks to a YEKINDAR multi-kill outside on yard. A NAF quad kill gave Liquid their tenth before YEKINDAR and oSee shut down FORZE on the yard to tie up the game. Liquid put together six in a row to take the lead at 13-11 before FORZE converted a 2v3. FORZE managed to keep the score within reach after converting a half-buy to get the score to 13-14. zorte's quad kill on round 29 saw FORZE take match point leaving Liquid's spirits and economy both broken.
shalfey made sure Liquid didn't manage to tie it up as he clutched out a 1v1 against oSee to close the map 16-14. zorte finished the match with a 1.66 rating and 31 kills.
