nitr0 set to step down from Liquid's CS:GO roster
Liquid's IGL and one of their longest standing members, Nick 'nitr0' Cannella has announced that he will be stepping down from Liquid's CS:GO roster following the end of the upcoming IEM Dallas 2023 event.
nitr0 announced his decision through a social media post, stating that while he would want to continue playing at the competitive level, the travel is a bit too much for him, given that he has a young family. nitr0 mostly recently had missed Liquid's bootcamp in Europe for the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 due to the birth of his second child. He has also stated that he is unsure of the future and will start streaming to kick off his next chapter.
nitr0 has been a part of Liquid since joining in 2015 and is one of the team's most decorated members, having won the Intel Grand Slam 2019 and various other BLAST and DreamHack trophies during his time with the team. He had left the team in 2020 to pursue a career in VALORANT but nitr0 returned to Liquid's CS:GO roster in 2021.
With nitr0 all set to leave the team, Liquid will be in the market looking for a new member. At the recently concluded BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, it was revealed that it was YEKINDAR who shared the in-game leader duties with nitr0, as the latter missed a chunk of their bootcamp, so it remains to be seen whether the Latvian continues to call the shots for Liquid or if they get a new IGL.
With nitr0 set to leave, Liquid's roster for the moment will be:
-
EliGE
-
oSee
-
YEKINDAR
-
NAF
-
daps (Coach)
nitr0 will be hoping to leave Liquid on a strong note, as Liquid takes on Astralis in their opening matchup at the IEM Dallas 2023.
