Lynn Vision Qualify for IEM Sydney 2023
After defeating TheMongolz and 5yclone in the previous matches, Lynn Vision secured their Grand Finals spot at the IEM Sydney 2023 Asia Closed Qualifiers. But 5yclone battled through TheMongolz in the lower bracket to set up a rematch with LV. Just 3 maps to decide who'll play at one of Asia-Oceania's only tier 1 events of the year.
Much like last time Lynn Vision's Inferno pick was a dominant start. Another 11-4 half, But this time 5yclone nearly pulled it all the way back. The map started with Lynn Vision blitzing through the defences on both bombsites with barely any resistance offered from 5yclone. The few rounds they did get were mostly kaze multikills on the AWP.
Throw a pistol round on top of the initial 11, and Lynn Vision looked set to close out the map quickly, but an immediate force buy win for 5yclone threw a spanner in the works. From 13-5 to 13-10 5yclone didn't drop a single round as JamYoung, kaze and Mercury were all performing well. Round 25 was a crucial one as Westmelon and EmiliaQAQ both took double kills to secure matchpoint for their team. And despite 5yclone continuing their solid T side, it was just a matter of one round for Lynn Vision to close it out.
Similarly to Inferno, Nuke started with a 5yclone pistol, before the forcebuy handed control of the initial rounds to LV. A couple 5yclone rounds were interspersed between triple sets from Lynn, but in round 9 5yclone finally put together back to back rounds, with 4 in a row of their own. The half closed at 8-7 with z4kr and Co. barely in the lead. The pistol round went 5yclone's way and the squad immediately took the lead 10-8. Lynn Vision's A attack on the first gun round netted them a bomb plant but nothing else as 5yclone were slowly marching towards a third map. JamYoung in particular was once again firing on all cylinders mantaining 1 KPR consistently. Up 13-8 now, 5yclone looked set for Overpass.
A slow play from Lynn Vision finally netted them their first round as they found picks across the map. But that was just a win in isolation as 5yclone plugged the gaps and a JamYoung 4k secured matchpoint. Advent took the final kill and 5yclone secured the map win.
5yclone finally got off to a good start on Map 3, picking up 6 out of the first 8 rounds. Two more near flawless rounds and kaze's crew had secured a lead in the half at minimum. Lynn Vision came back in the end of the half to put together a 5 round haul at half-time and then secured a much needed pistol to start the second half. That fueled their comeback as they brought the game to a 10-10, before 5yclone woke back up in round 21. 3 back to back rounds went their way to bring back their lead in the half. Westmelon and EmiliaQAQ however were far from done with this series, as they dragged their team through rounds to tie it back up.
A Moseyuh triple pushed 5yclone to 14, EmiliaQAQ's double tied it 14-14 again, but it was 5yclone to take matchpoint and they took away Lynn Vision's economy in the process, leaving them with an AK, a scout and a smattering of pistols. A loadout that was surprisingly enough to take the map to OT. OT finally bucked the trend as Lynn Vision took two in a row to start it off, dropped a round to end the first half before taking matchpoint at 18-16. Moseyuh managed to give one more round to his team, and despite his triple in round 36, LV took the map 19-17 to secure their spot at IEM Sydney 2023.
